Today we spoke with J. Matthew McCoy and learned of the founding of two companies who have become pillars in the local insurance industry. From Wayne Mutual Insurance Company to McCoy Insurance Agency, Inc., the McCoy Family family has given nearly 100 years to helping the community prepare for the future. We listened as Matthew explained his family's dedication to the industry and the community;

My family has been in the insurance business since my great-great-grandfather, J. Stewart McCoy, helped found Wayne Mutual Insurance Company in the early 1900s. At that time, our agency started as well and we've continued to handle the Wayne Mutual lines of coverage ever since. When my grandfather Jim passed away in 1956, my grandmother A. Louise took over the agency and is still on the Board of Directors at Wayne Mutual.

I continued farming with my dad after my football career at OSU and discovered that I needed additional and more dependable source of income than farming alone provides. In 1993, I became part of the insurance Agency and in 1998, I bought the agency from my grandmother. With our office right here on the property, I've been able to continue farming and also devote a full-time effort to serving our clients and preserving my great-great-grandfather's legacy.

McCoy Insurance Agency is a family oriented company writing a full line of property and casualty, homeowners, auto, farm owners, and business liability insurance policies. We write policies for Wayne Mutual, Mennonite Mutual, Progressive, Bristol West, AIG, and our working relationship with Heffelfinger Sons & Associates enables us to also write for Western Reserve, Washington Mutual, Auto Owners, and Celina to name a few. Our family started in the insurance business by writing policies for farmers and farmers are still the majority of our client base. With my experience, I can relate to farmers and their concerns.

Our family has been in this community for several generations and we have a history of striving to make excellent customer service our calling card. Unlike larger agencies that pass you from specialist to specialist, I work with each client to personalize our services to help them meet their objectives in preparing for the future.
