Lauren and Ruth Beck had enjoyed camping trips with their family for years. They decided that when they retired, they'd like to own a campground of his their so in 1977, Lauren and Ruth purchased Lazy J Ranch, changed the name to Beck's Family Campground, and proceeded to build the retirement they had planned. In August 2007, the campground was purchased by Keith Milton, Lauren and Ruth's grandson, and renamed Lazy B Campground. We recently stopped by to visit, and listened as Keith outlined the dramatic transformation and modernizing efforts underway at the campground as they prepare for another fun-filled season;
I took over the management of the campground in 2003 and purchased it in 2007. Since that time, I've cleaned up the place quite a bit, installed a new softball field, built a new pavilion, and made many improvements to our lakes. Our newly refurbished recreation hall is now available for parties, weddings, and family gatherings, and typically is home to live country music every Friday night throughout the summer. We've put in a new beach area, a new park, horse shoe pits, and a new jungle gym and sand boxes for the children.
Lazy B Campground has over one hundred lots for campers and tents, and is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, every single day of the year. Our lots can be rented by the day, week, month, season, or by the year. We provide full hook-ups complete with running water and sewer year 'round, and our shower houses are open all year except during the winter. Each lot is furnished with a picnic table and a fire ring, and we have a dumping station available so our campers can dump their holding tanks before they leave.
Lazy B Campground includes three lakes for our campers' enjoyment. One lake is available for swimming, and the other two have been stocked with bass, channel cat, and blue gill for our campers who enjoy fishing. We have hiking and bicycle trails, and a nineteen acre lot that's available for rent for private functions and to scouting and similar organizations for their camping, fishing, and hiking retreats.
Throughout the year we host numerous events for the entertainment of our campers. For example, in the past we have had free horse drawn carriage rides as part of our weekend long Fourth of July celebration. We've invested a lot of time and effort over the past few years upgrading our facility, and from the comments of our regular campers, this just could be our most fun-filled year ever!
