Lisa Miller had developed a strong following during her years of styling hair and had gained seven years experience in salon management. In March of 1995, she decided the time had come to branch out on her own so she opened Hair Designers & Tanning on North Market Street. Deciding to go out on her own was a big decision for Lisa to make, and on the day she opened, she was the only stylist. Now, Hair Designers & Tanning employs nine highly trained staff members and has grown beyond anything Lisa had imagined. Join us as she tells of Hair Designers' offerings;

Hair Designers & Tanning is a family salon that cuts hair for men, women, and children. We offer coloring, highlighting, lowlighting, dimensional coloring, perms, and up-dos for weddings and proms. Our nail technician does artificial nails, manicures, and pedicures, and, we also do facial waxing and offer tanning service.

We offer a Red House Manicure that includes a hand and arm massage plus a hot oil and paraffin wax dip that feels wonderful. It's absolutely great for dry skin and makes arthritic hands feel better than they have in ages. Next, we do a natural manicure and can apply artificial nails to provide an elegant, well-groomed appearance. Our Breakfast in Bed Pedicure includes a gentle, warm soaking of the feet and a massage of your feet and legs that does wonders for your circulation before we soften and remove any calluses and clip and file the nails.

Our tanning is done with a twenty-four bulb Wolfe System bed complete with an optional facial tanner and the bed is available during our regular salon hours. We always have a certified attendant on duty and appointments are needed to reserve tanning time.

Hair Designers & Tanning offers a full line of professional products including the Matrix Biolage and Matrix Sleek lines. We use Nexxus hair coloring in the salon and carry a full line of Nexus products in addition to Paul Mitchell, Amplify, Graham Webb as well. For thinning hair, we carry Nioxin, and, our tanning products are by Australian Gold. Even with all the products we carry, we're happy to special order any product a client may need.

We're basically an appointment salon and many of our clients will make their appointments up to four months in advance. Walk-ins are welcomed and we will try to work you in if we can, although, there are times our schedule will not allow us to work with walk-ins so it's always best to set an appointment so you won't be disappointed.
