Over the past quarter of a century, Becky Clark's family and Family Pools & Spas have developed a reputation as the leader in our community's swimming pool and hot tub industry. When her grandparents' pool needed a new liner in the early 1970s, the closest company with the needed capability was in Norwalk, Ohio. As they talked to Becky's father while installing the liner, they realized that with his experience in excavation, he might be able to help them service the Ashland area better than they could themselves. Taking a leap of faith, Becky's parents purchased a couple in-ground pool packages, an assortment of pool chemicals, and they set-up shop in the family garage. Within two years, the business had grown so fast that they moved to their storefront on Claremont Avenue in Ashland and, in 1978, they opened their location in Wooster. We visited recently with Becky and, while dreaming of suntan lotion and Piña Coladas, listened as she described their offerings;

Family Pools & Spas carries both indoor and outdoor portable hot tubs. When you're installing a hot tub in a new room addition, we'll work with your contractor to ensure a successful installation. When you select a hot tub from Family Pools & Spas, we don't just deliver the tub and drop it off in your driveway like many companies do. We provide a service that we call a "Wet Start", meaning that we install your hot tub, fill it with water, and make sure it's operating properly before we leave. We take time to explain the full operation and care of the tub, how to drain it, clean it, and replace the filter. We give you a handy laminated print-out of which chemicals you'll need and when to use them in addition to helping you become familiar with your new tub's start-up and shut-down procedures.
We open and close hundreds of residential and quite a few commercial pools each year. At the beginning of the season, we clean the covers, drain the anti-freeze from the lines, and get everything up and running for another year of fun. Final closing in the fall in the fall includes blowing the lines, adding anti-freeze, and protecting your pool form the effects of winter's freezing and thawing.
