When his first grade class was given an assignment to draw a picture of what they wanted to be when they grew up, Dr. Roger S. Redman, D.V.M. drew a picture of a veterinarian. His love of animals was encouraged by his father, a veterinarian at the Ohio Agricultural Resource and Development Center. After completing his studies in veterinary medicine, Dr. Redman accepted a position in Western Ohio until he returned to Wooster and purchased Ark Veterinary Hospital from founder Dr. Noah in 1992. Ark Veterinary Hospital is now approaching its fiftieth year of service to the local community and, under Dr. Redman's guidance, continues to build on its reputation for veterinary excellence. During a recent visit, Dr. Redman told us of the pursuit of his lifelong dream;
Ark Veterinary Hospital specializes in providing care for all types of companion animals including dogs, cats, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, lizards, iguanas, and snakes. As a full service veterinary hospital, we handle everything from out-patient visits for physical exams and immunizations to hospitalization, orthopedic surgery, and soft tissue surgeries. For the convenience of our kitten and puppy owners, we have all inclusive "Healthy Puppy" and "Healthy Kitten" plans that cover the first full year of the pets' lives and include such things as vaccinations, spaying, and neutering.
We recently purchased the only state-of-the-art ultrasound system available in the tri-county area with the capability to allow us, for example, to ultrasound a dog's abdomen, biopsy the liver, have a radiologist, internal medicine specialist, or oncologist in California interpret the results in real time, and provide a diagnosis to within a matter of hours. We have a new veterinary videoscope that allows us to see into body cavities with magnification and good lighting, thereby allowing us to do more diagnosis and treatments without having to do invasive surgery. We can actually see into the ear canal, treat the middle ear, test a ruptured ear drum, and treat inner ear polyps and tumors without resorting to the radical surgical procedures used in the past.
Our motto is, "Try a little tenderness." We care for your pet as if it were our own. Before each diagnostic test or treatment, we ask ourselves, "What would I do if this were my pet?" We view and treat each pet in our care as valuable members of their owners family and we strive to make sure their owners understand our reasoning process in formulating a diagnosis of their "family member's" condition. Each of our staff members endeavor to answer your questions in lay terms and are a wonderful source of information about subjects that range from flea control to heartworm and disease prevention.
Ark Veterinary Hospital is also a full-service boarding kennel with pet grooming services available. We do routine baths and trimming of feathers and tails for cats, dogs, and birds. As part of our boarding service, we offer grooming service at a discount for pets who have stayed with us for a week or more during their owner's vacation. We are also now offering a doggie daycare.
We offer a complete line of pet supplies and pet products including dog foods, cat foods, and prescription foods that are formulated for dogs and cats with specific illnesses. We have collars, leashes, chew toys, and a lot of health-related pet supplies such as a new chewie impregnated with a dental cleaner. For young puppies, we have a toy called a Kong that's used for behavior modification, training, and helping to aid separation anxiety so they don't chew the furniture while you're at work.
Ark Veterinary Hospital is dedicated to providing leading edge healthcare services to companion animals throughout the local area. From our state-of-the-art equipment to the loving care provided by our staff, we're prepared to treat your pets as the "family members" they are!
Only a pet owner can appreciate how much our companions become true members of our families and how important finding the right veterinarian can be. Call Ark Veterinary Hospital today and don't forget to tell them that The Advocate sent you!
